Building the future of nuclear energy by sharing experience and innovations
Nuclear energy is an essential part of the energy mix to realise the security of energy supply and deliver on climate goals in the coming decades. Long Term Operation of the current reactor fleet, in combination with the deployment of current and future reactor designs, will be required to meet societal needs. The nuclear community needs to collaborate successfully to deliver on these promises by sharing experience and innovations. Executives and experts in long term operation (LTO), new build (Generation III-+) and advanced reactors will come together to explore the promises, risks and common challenges of existing and future nuclear energy solutions. The aim of this Nuclear Innovation Conference is to discuss the innovative use of nuclear power, the competitiveness of nuclear energy production and to share experiences and lessons learned. In order to facilitate the goals of the conference, the presentations and discussions are structured in three ‘tracks’.
What can I expect from the LTO track?
The LTO track will cover organizational and technical issues connected with ageing management and LTO up to 60 but also beyond 60 years of operation. Experts will share experience and lessons learned from implementation and improvement of systematic ageing management. Furthermore they will address activities related to LTO justification and demonstration like periodic safety reviews, license renewal applications, environmental impact assessments, all from an operator and regulator perspective.
What can I expect from Generation III + New Build track?
The new-build track will focus on the challenges and opportunities for the realization of new GEN-III-+ reactors worldwide. And how can SMRs contribute to a sound business case. What are the critical success factors for new-build, from the perspective of vendors, owners, utilities, and governments. Experts share their lights on how improvements in the supply chain can lead to lowering costs and faster deployments of new-build projects.
What can I expect from the Advanced Reactors track?
The advanced reactors track will address the multiple challenges towards realization of innovative reactor designs for energy, process heat and waste reduction. Experience and innovative approaches are shared on relevant topics, such as: organizational and supply chain development, licensing, R&D and qualification of new technologies.
